Nail-down, glue-down and floating hardwood flooring installation
Hardwood flooring installation comes in three methods, and the subfloor usually decides which one fits. Nail-down is the traditional choice for solid hardwood floor installation over a wood subfloor. Glue-down bonds engineered planks straight to a concrete slab. Floating floors lock together over an underlayment and never attach to the subfloor at all. We do all three, plus hardwood staircases.
Our hardwood flooring installation services also cover repair, restoration and refinishing of existing wood. If you're replacing old carpet that's coming up for good, removal and disposal can happen on the same job.
Common hardwood flooring jobs around San Antonio
Walk through King William or Tobin Hill and plenty of the older houses still have their original wood floors, sometimes hiding under carpet or sheet vinyl laid down decades ago. Gray, scratched, worn through at the doorways. A floor like that is often a refinishing job, not a replacement.
Newer homes on slab foundations usually go engineered, glued down or floated. Kitchens are a judgment call, especially with new cabinets going in. Wood and standing water don't mix, so many people run hardwood through the living areas and switch to tile in the wet rooms or waterproof SPC plank. If the budget is tight, wood-look laminate gets you the look for less.
Offices, shops and restaurants get the same nail-down, glue-down and floating options as homes.
How our hardwood floor installers plan for wood movement
Wood moves. San Antonio summers are humid, and the A/C pulls moisture out of the house for months at a stretch, so planks swell and shrink through the year. Our hardwood floor installers leave room for that movement at the walls so the floor doesn't buckle in August or gap in January.
Where a hardwood room meets a bathroom, the transition gets planned before the first board goes down, and we can quote the bathroom tile work at the same time. That kind of problem-solving comes from more than 35 years of hands-on experience.
What to expect from a hardwood project at your house
We respond within 1 hour, and in-home estimates are available Monday through Friday. Delivery to your home or job site is available for a fee.
Refinishing used to mean a fine layer of sawdust on everything you own. We refinish with dustless equipment, so the dust gets pulled into the machine instead of settling on furniture and air vents. New installs take longer than a refinish, especially with stairs, and you'll get the schedule before work starts.
Hardwood flooring cost, financing and who gets 10% off
Cost depends on solid versus engineered, species and finish, square footage, the install method, and whether stairs are involved. Refinishing an existing floor usually costs less than replacing it. The in-home estimate is where you get a real number.
Financing is available through Synchrony with terms from 6 to 18 months, no interest if paid off by the term date, and other terms are available. Hardwood flooring installation contractors, home investors, commercial accounts, military personnel, senior citizens and repeat customers get 10% off.
